New Horizon 201 AT-VM520EB Hi-Fi Turntable in Laminated Black

The New Horizon 201 AT-VM520EB in Laminated Black is a manually operated Hi-Fi turntable developed as a more sophisticated evolution of the brand’s entry-level platform. Its construction focuses on mechanical stability, rotational inertia and vibration control, combining a substantial chassis, methacrylate platter and precision belt-drive system with the Audio-Technica AT-VM520EB cartridge.

A rigid 25 mm chassis provides the structural foundation of the turntable. Its carefully damped construction is complemented by newly designed three-part adjustable feet incorporating EPDM damping material, helping isolate the playback mechanism from vibrations transmitted through the supporting surface.

One of the defining elements of the New Horizon 201 is its substantial 20 mm methacrylate platter. Weighing almost 2 kg, the platter provides increased rotational inertia for smoother and more stable playback. The transparent material also gives the turntable a distinctive visual character while serving an important mechanical role in the design.

The belt-drive system uses a high-precision steel main bearing and synchronous motor. Separating the motor from the platter through a belt helps reduce the direct transmission of motor vibration, supporting the turntable’s focus on clean analogue reproduction.

The 9-inch New Horizon tonearm is engineered for high structural rigidity and accurate cartridge tracking. Tracking force, anti-skating, VTA and azimuth can be adjusted, providing extensive control over cartridge alignment and allowing the analogue system to be precisely configured.

This version is supplied with the Audio-Technica AT-VM520EB, using the manufacturer’s Dual Moving Magnet VM architecture. The cartridge is supplied pre-aligned and matched to the turntable, while Teflon washers and brass cartridge-mounting nuts demonstrate the attention given to small mechanical details throughout the design.

The New Horizon 201 deliberately avoids an integrated phono preamplifier and digital processing. Its RCA output provides a direct analogue connection to an external phono stage or an amplifier equipped with a suitable phono input. A grounded RCA stereo cable is supplied.

Finished in sophisticated Laminated Black, the turntable combines restrained styling with a substantial mechanical construction. The heavy methacrylate platter, adjustable isolation system and Audio-Technica cartridge make the New Horizon 201 a focused foundation for a dedicated vinyl Hi-Fi setup.
