Pro-Ject Debut EVO 2 Hi-Fi Turntable in Satin Wine Red

The Pro-Ject Debut EVO 2 in Satin Wine Red is a refined European-made Hi-Fi turntable combining a rigid MDF chassis, precision belt-drive system, damped aluminium platter and one-piece carbon-fibre tonearm. Supplied with the Pick it MM EVO cartridge, it is designed as a complete analogue playback system with a strong focus on resonance control, mechanical stability and accurate tracking.

The substantial MDF plinth is manufactured from a single solid board to create a rigid, low-resonance foundation. Its carefully applied multi-layer finish gives the turntable a sophisticated appearance while protecting the surface. Height-adjustable damped metal feet allow precise levelling and help isolate the chassis from external vibration.

The 300 mm aluminium platter is internally damped with a TPE thermoplastic elastomer ring. At approximately 1.7 kg, its substantial mass contributes to stable rotation, while the damping treatment suppresses unwanted platter resonance. The main bearing combines a stainless-steel spindle with a bronze bushing for smooth mechanical operation.

A key element of the Debut EVO 2 is its 8.6-inch one-piece carbon-fibre tonearm with an integrated headshell. The rigid, lightweight construction minimises unwanted resonance and provides a direct mechanical connection to the cartridge. Tracking force, anti-skating and azimuth can be adjusted for precise setup.

The tonearm is factory equipped with the Pro-Ject Pick it MM EVO Moving Magnet cartridge featuring an elliptical stylus. The cartridge and tonearm are designed to work as a matched combination, providing a straightforward route into high-quality vinyl playback without requiring an immediate cartridge upgrade.

The belt-drive motor uses an advanced vibration-decoupling suspension, derived from engineering solutions developed for Pro-Ject’s higher-end turntables. By mechanically isolating the motor from the main chassis, the system reduces the transmission of motor noise and vibration to the platter and cartridge.

An integrated electronic Speed Box system provides convenient switching between 33⅓ and 45 rpm while precisely stabilising platter speed. Unlike turntables that require manual belt repositioning, speed changes can be made electronically.

The Debut EVO 2 deliberately avoids integrated digital functions and does not include a built-in phono preamplifier. Its RCA phono output is intended for connection to a dedicated phono stage or an amplifier with an appropriate phono input, maintaining a focused analogue signal path.

Hand-assembled at Pro-Ject’s European factory and finished in distinctive Satin Wine Red, the Debut EVO 2 combines minimalist design with carefully developed analogue engineering. Its carbon tonearm, damped aluminium platter and isolated motor system make it a sophisticated foundation for a dedicated Hi-Fi vinyl setup.
