The Pro-Ject The Debut Carbon SB Esprit Sonos Edition in Black (PJDECASON1) is a refined belt-drive Hi-Fi turntable built around the acclaimed Debut platform. Its construction combines a rigid MDF plinth, an acrylic platter, a carbon-fibre tonearm and an Ortofon 2M Red cartridge, creating a carefully engineered analogue source with a strong emphasis on mechanical simplicity and accurate vinyl playback.

One of the most distinctive elements is the one-piece carbon-fibre tonearm. Carbon fibre provides an advantageous combination of high rigidity and low mass, helping suppress unwanted resonances while allowing the cartridge to track the record groove accurately.

The tonearm incorporates a damped cueing mechanism and adjustable tracking force, anti-skating and azimuth. A weighted anti-skating system provides precise compensation during playback, while the factory-installed Ortofon 2M Red MM cartridge offers an established high-quality starting point for the analogue system.

The record is supported by a substantial acrylic platter, chosen both for its mechanical damping properties and its clean visual character. The platter is driven through a sub-platter and elastic belt, mechanically separating the drive system from the playing surface.

The AC motor is decoupled from the MDF chassis using Sorbothane damping elements, helping prevent motor vibration from reaching the platter and cartridge. The motor operates through an electronically controlled power system designed to maintain stable rotational speed.

The turntable supports 33⅓, 45 and 78 rpm. Switching between 33⅓ and 45 rpm is electronic, while 78 rpm operation requires the belt to be repositioned manually. Playback of 78 rpm records also requires an appropriate cartridge or stylus, such as the compatible Ortofon 2M 78.

There is no integrated phono preamplifier or digital audio processing. A pair of RCA outputs allows the owner to select the preferred phono interconnect and connect the turntable to an external MM phono stage or an amplifier equipped with a suitable phono input.

The Black Sonos Edition retains the fundamentally analogue architecture of the Debut Carbon SB Esprit. Its carbon tonearm, acrylic platter, isolated motor and Ortofon cartridge create a sophisticated combination of materials and engineering for a dedicated vinyl-focused Hi-Fi system.
