The HEDDphone D1 are premium open-back dynamic headphones developed for reference listening, professional monitoring and critical audio work. Designed and assembled in Berlin, they combine HEDD Audio’s acoustic engineering with an advanced Thin-Ply Carbon Diaphragm (TPCD) developed in collaboration with Composite Sound.

At the heart of the D1 is HEDD’s proprietary dynamic driver built around an exceptionally lightweight Thin-Ply Carbon diaphragm. The carbon-composite architecture is engineered to provide high rigidity with very low moving mass, supporting fast transient response and precise control across the audible spectrum.

This driver technology is designed to minimize unwanted resonances and reproduce fine changes in dynamics with high accuracy. The result is a controlled presentation in which vocals, instruments and low-frequency information remain clearly defined without relying on exaggerated tonal emphasis.

The open-back architecture allows the drivers to operate with minimal acoustic restriction from the earcups. This contributes to a spacious presentation and natural sense of depth, making the D1 particularly suitable for critical listening, studio monitoring and detailed evaluation of recordings.

With a frequency response extending from 10 Hz to 40 kHz, the headphones cover a considerably wider range than the conventional audible spectrum. Distortion is specified at below 0.05%, supporting clean reproduction when assessing subtle details in complex recordings.

An impedance of 32 ohms and sensitivity of 100 dB provide relatively broad compatibility with different playback systems. The D1 can be integrated into professional studio setups and high-quality home audio systems, while a capable dedicated headphone amplifier can provide additional headroom and control.

The headphones use a detachable dual-entry cable system, with separate 3.5 mm connections to the earcups and a 6.3 mm TRS connection for the source. This conventional analogue architecture allows straightforward integration with professional headphone amplifiers, interfaces and monitoring equipment.

The construction combines aluminium, leather and composite materials, balancing mechanical rigidity with the ergonomic requirements of extended listening sessions. The headband and premium ear pads are designed to distribute pressure evenly during prolonged studio work.

Each HEDDphone D1 is hand-assembled in Berlin, Germany, reflecting the model’s positioning as a precision professional listening instrument. Rather than emphasizing enhanced bass or treble, its engineering is focused on resolution, transient accuracy and balanced reproduction.

With its TPCD driver technology, open-back construction and low-distortion design, the HEDDphone D1 is intended for producers, engineers and demanding listeners who require a highly revealing headphone system for monitoring and critical evaluation.
